Sand dunes, a pine forest, a freshwater spring, endless shores, untamed waves, spray and sun\u2026 Two simple yet enchanting lodges, where Mother Nature reigns supreme.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group story is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group card is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-engebrechtre-font-family has-extra-large-font-size\">1858<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">A former hunting lodge, built in 1858 by Baron Boulart, the magnate who owned the then brand-new Landes forest and who was also an explorer, the hamlet of Huchet is laid out around a large colonial-style house, two wooden houses, former boathouses, and a small chapel called \u201cEstelle de la Mar\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group story is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group card is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-engebrechtre-font-family has-extra-large-font-size\">1908<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Discovered in 1908 by the Italian poet Gabrielle Annunzio, the Huchet stream quickly became a meeting place for people of &#8220;knowledge and good taste&#8221;. In 1934, it was listed as a natural monument.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group story is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group card is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-engebrechtre-font-family has-extra-large-font-size\">1981<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Creation on September 29, 1981 of the Huchet Current National Nature Reserve, covering an area of 656 ha.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group story is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group card is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-engebrechtre-font-family has-extra-large-font-size\">1997<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">The Gu\u00e9rard family fell for its charms and bought it in 1997, then restored the houses bearing in mind the way they originally used to be, and added their own magnificent collection of authentic furniture and paintings, dating back to the Indo-Chinese and Indo-Portuguese periods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group story is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group card is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-engebrechtre-font-family has-extra-large-font-size\">1999<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">The Beach House opens.<br>The lodges stand on the \u201clette\u201d. This is a geographical curiosity \u2013 a depression between two hills of sand \u2013 which marks the border between the pine forest and the sand.
