Foodie Tours in Gascony

If you are staying with us for a few days, we will recommend a few routes along which you will discover the rich wine and food heritage of the Landes and Gascogne regions.

The open markets

Every wednesday morning, until 1pm, the small local market of Eugénie takes place in the village’s Main Street. Despite its modest proportions, it offers a wide range of delicacies and handcrafted good showcasing the talent of local producers.
Just a few miles down the road, Aire Sur l’Adour hosts a renowned food court in a beautiful location across the street from the city hall on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. On Tuesdays, live chicks and poultry create a lovely atmosphere. The market’s café guarantees an exotic
experience in the heart of the food court atmosphere. Remember to buy a few pastries fresh out the oven from the stand nearby, so that you can enjoy them with your coffee.
If you feel like it, you can go a few extra miles to reach Mont-de-Marsan, where the Marché Saint-Roch, one of the 100 most beautiful open markets in France is held every Tuesday and Saturday.

Vines, Wine and Armagnac

The Château de Bachen, our domain, welcomes you ; here, you will find out about the wine production of the Guérard family. You just need to make an appointment – our Reception Desk will be delighted to assist you with this.
On our Domaine de Sandemagnan, some 35 kilometers away from Eugénie, on the Gers hilltops in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac region, we have also been producing fine armagnac vintages since 1967. The cave can be visited from Monday to Saturday, upon reservation.
An amusing and pedagogic way to discover the secrets of armagnac is to take a trip to the Domaine d’Ognoas, which welcomes visitors several times a week. At Château de Ravignan, the Ravignan family has been producing the famous armagnac spirit since 1732.
Guests may enjoy a guided tour of the XVIIIth century castle, followed by an armagnac tasting workshop in the cellars.
This delicious getaway ends with a local cocktail with foie-gras toasts.
